Real
Biography
Louise and Winston joined forces in 2005 to create the funk band REAL. They developed a partnership as songwriters which has led to the creation of their first full album "Give Me A Reason". They have created a style which is a unique fusion of soul, funk, acid jazz, making music which is accessible but has strong, credible jazz roots.
Louise Pollock is a newcomer to the scene but has already made a strong impact with several UK producers having had success first in dance music (2 no. 1's). She quickly realised that her real desire was to work with someone of like mind to create the kind of music which she wanted to sing. Her songwriting abilities can also be heard on her solo album "Louise Pollock" out on iTunes. Her great voice and vivacious personality which can be heard monthly at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club with Funk-Affair!
Winston Rollins needs little introduction. His background is steeped in music having been in bands such as Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, InCognito, Aswad, Courtney Pine and currently Jools Holland. He has his own studio, RedRoom Studios in Chiswick, West London and he produced the first Real album himself. His talents extend beyond being a musician (trombonist firstly but also keyboards, bass), he is also a songwriter, producer, arranger not to mention a unique presence on stage.
REAL generate an exciting, fresh vibe. It is no accident that REAL has some of the best musicians around with vocalist Louise fronting it and Winston as M.D. The band are sought after regulars on the live music scene.
Their debut album "Give Me A Reason" is out now in the UK on Smooch Records via Passion Music & Pinnacle, also on iTunes and Amazon released in April 2006. A Remixed album “REALIZED the remixes” released 2007 and out on now with remixes from Mark de Clive-Lowe, YamWho?, M-Swift, LeisureGroove and others.
"Give Me A Reason" has been released in Japan in December 2005 by Columbia Records reaching no.6 in the Jazz Chart. REAL's remix of the title track made the top10 Dance Chart in Japan in December 2005, their single went to #20 in the Zip100. In 2007 a limited 12” vinyl release of "Never Never" reached the top10 of several charts in the UK. Their second album “Love Crazy” is being released in 2009. New single “round and round” is out now on iTunes.
