Biography

Linley Weir's signature contralto voice is sensitive – authentic – soulful – smoky and original. When Linley performs she is in her element, singing soul-inspired, modern jazz, that is not constrained by traditional genre boundaries.

After graduating with honours from Leeds College of Music, Linley embarked upon a diverse international career - singing, songwriting and recording. Following residencies in Tokyo and Dubai, her music has taken her to India, Spain, Ireland, the Maldives and China. Performing at festivals with artists like Jorge Pardo Flautist and saxophonist who has toured with Chick Corea.

Since returning to the UK, Linley has built a reputation on the London jazz scene, having performed at venues including Pizza on the Park, 606 Club, National Theatre, Ram Jam Club, Spice of Life, Park Lane Sheraton and the Bull’s Head. She also runs an extensive teaching practice – passing on her singing and performance skills to aspiring artists.

Danny and Tom have toured extensively with Tom Baxter,Whilst Danny tours and has featured on Jools Holland with the Noisettes, Scott Matthews and Charlie Winston.

From the joyously swinging ‘I Saw Him Standing There’ (a brilliantly readapted Beatles tune) to the irresistible ‘A Certain Slant Of Light,’ her honesty shines through, unafraid to bare a little part of herself to each listener.

‘Softly as in a morning sunrise’, captures the listener immediately: a magnetic piano riff, to finish, the beautifully understated ‘Desires’ is sung with hushed intimacy. It absolutely left me wanting more
